oh god the flashbacks continue... I remember this one territory which almost perfectly followed my school bus route in middle school. imagine my dismay when my parents checked it out. well the first weekend I managed to feign illness and get out of going. not so lucky the subsequent weeks. I dodged as many schoolmates as possible but inevitably ran into some. the one guy I saw was actually a very talented debater as well as a bit of a bully. that sucked just a bit.

Knocking on the Doors of Classmates out in service
by new light incould anything have been more embarrassing?
you could be at the door of the least popular munger in school, but overwhelmed with envy because, hey, at least he was doing something normal.
in 8th grade, at the peak of childhood self-consciousness, i knocked on the door of a super popular, rich, "in" kid from my class and he answered the door.

When an elder steps down - does he stay a ministerial servant?
by truthseeker inno he becomes a member of the lowly rank and file...and if no reason is given it is accepted that he was forced out...

super horrific flashbacks here. I too was blessed by the Lawd to have my school district be a subset of my KH territory -- most was amish country. The part that was townish or less rural was always a risk of sseeeing a schoolmate. I recall two times at least where I saw a schoolmate in my grade. That sucked in the worst way. I think most of the lies I told in school were related to abject humiliation as the result of my religious beliefs --- yeah, that's so healthy.

27 fairly arbitrary percentages. I might be more given the correct questions. Then again I might not be at all ... depends which goofus is running the local Hall.

Studies show that all studies are right except the studies I disagree with. In that case they need more study.
JWs are the champs of cherry picking. // Studies show.

Rules in many congregations are what the local body of elders want to make of them. You might end up in Stalag KH, you might end up in Pleasant Hills Service and Meeting Club. It's pretty hit-or-miss. My own informal studies indicate that the majority lean toward mini authoritarian regimes. That just sounds like one of many cases with some CO made an observation on how he thought things should be and the locals just ran with it.
I'd turn the situation around on her or them if you are harrassed. Tell 'em she kept bugging you and you were just trying to be nice.

"so what is he/she doing with the truth ?" ... because its such a blatant attempt to write someone off for not "doing enough with the truth". lame.

My Introduction
by bgurl81 ini've been lurking on this website for quite some time, but haven't quite gotten the strength to post until now.
for obvious reasons, i cannot reveal my identity.
although my "family" nows that i am no longer a witness and celebrates holidays, they still have "hope" for me.

hello & welcome too. I was a very long time lurker too. I have family that would be hurt by my completely distancing myself although I haven't been to meetings in years . I can relate to how your husband feels. behavior learned over a lifetime does not quickly disappear.

Witness owns Flower Shop-advertises-sells birthday-holiday arrangements
by Thechickennest ini have been away from the organization long enough not to know how this family is allowed to sell and profit from selling birthday and holiday gifts.
as far as i am aware they are active jw's.
they do a lot of advertising on the internet specifically for all the holidays and birthdays that jw's are not supposed to be involved in to the best of my knowledge.

I have to agree with OTWO here. far too many JWs we all know are far too dogmatic and slavishly follow every "suggestion" or "counsel" of the WTS as absolute gospel. too much straining of the gnat in my opinion. while this florist should be aware that his/her actions could be viewed by many as reproach on jahs name it is unlikely these same pharisees would put food on the table if they did not participate in such highly seasonal businesses. I'm sure valentines and mother's day are huge for them. .... good for them IMO. if more JWs were more tolerant of other's decisions I might NOT be.... -Not Feeling It.
